Jack L. Lewis, 79, of Gladstone, IL, passed away at 6:09 p.m., Thursday, August 26, 2021 at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center, West Burlington, IA.
He was born on April 4, 1942 in Burlington, IA, the son of Carroll E. and Ruth H. (Dorethy) Lewis. He was raised and educated in Gladstone, Il, graduating from G & O High School in 1960.
Jack married Frances K. Booten on November 10, 1963 in Burlington, IA; she preceded him in death on January 20, 2018.
Jack was a brakeman and conductor for the Burlington Northern Railroad for 42 years before retiring in 2002.
He loved to duck and goose hunt and directing other hunting groups. Jack was an avid Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan.
Surviving Jack are two sons, Shane Lewis of Cedar Rapids, IA, Trent Lewis of Gladstone, IL; five granddaughters, Claire (Josh) Rathje, Kortney Miller, Ashley Lewis, Leanna Lewis, Shianna Lewis; six great grandchildren, Taryn Miller, Shawn Shullaw, Bryce Rathje, Adelaide Rathje, Jackson Lewis and Maci Conrad; his sister, Barbara (Michael) Millar of Aledo, IL; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Frances K. Lewis.
As per Jack’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded; no visitation or services are planned at this time. Memorials can be made to the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital. McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
