William D. Janssen

William Dale "Bill" Janssen,82. of Monmouth, IL died at 1:58 P.M. Sunday, February 24, 2013 at the Monmouth Nursing Home.

He was born June 2, 1930 in Gothenburg, NE., the son of Otto Arthur and Florence Mabel (Anderson) Janssen. He was raised and educated in Kearney NE. graduating from Kearney State College with a Bachelor's of Science degree in English.

Bill married Sandra Delores Reynolds on June 15, 1952 in Kearney, NE and she died Jan. 4, 2008.

Bill worked as a furniture salesman for 48 years beginning with Gambles before retiring in 2000.

Bill was a member of the Monmouth Rotary Club, Jaycees and volunteered numerous hours the OSF Holy Family Auxiliary. He enjoyed playing Bridge, bingo, golf, tennis and ping pong. He was also an avid walker.

Survivors include his 2 daughters, Kimbra (David) Salter of Rio, IL and Kristine (Bradley) Erickson of Westby, WI; 5 grandchildren, Brandon (Sarah Manker) Queen of Lake in the Hills, IL. Gregory (Shayna Elledge) Queen of Quincy, IL, Megan (Shawn) McCarthy of DeForest, WI, Tyler Erickson of Madison, WI, Amanda (Mark) Baldock of Oconomowoc, WI; great grandchildren, Camden McCarthy of DeForest, WI and McKayla Queen of Quincy, IL. He was looking forward to two additional great grandchildren, due this summer.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

Cremation has been accorded. Memorial services will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, March 1, 2013 at the Countryside Bible Church, Monmouth with Rev. Ken Muck officiating. No visiting hours are planned. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Monmouth Nursing Home. Arrangements by McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth.
