Wesley E. Bird

Wesley E. Bird, 70, of Monmouth, IL, passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2025 at his home. 

He was born August 14, 1954, in Galesburg, IL, the son of Dwight E. and Lavonna (Cooper) Bird. Wesley was raised in Monmouth, where he graduated from Monmouth High School. He then served in the United States Army, attaining the rank of Sergeant. 

Wesley was united in marriage to Meleia Comstock in 1975; they later divorced. 

Wesley worked for several years as a farmhand for Doug McCrery. He was an avid reader and enjoyed watching movies, often spending time outdoors. 

Wesley is survived by two sons, Daniel (Sarah) Bird of Moline, IL, and Matthew (Bianca) Bird of Woodridge, IL; his step-mother, Maxine Bird; three grandchildren, Logan Bird, Jackson Bird, and Thomas Bird; three great-grandchildren, Wyatt Bird, Kohen Bird, and Ledger Bird; and one brother, Tim (Darlene) Bird of Branson, MO. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Sara Bird-Johnson. 

Cremation rites have been accorded. No visitation or services are planned at this time. Memorials may be made to the Wesley Bird Memorial Fund and sent to the funeral home. McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory is handling the arrangements.
