Wayne L. Wooddell

Wayne L. “Woody” Wooddell, 67, of Monmouth, IL, passed away at 4:50 pm, Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at the Monmouth Nursing Home, Monmouth, IL.

Wayne was born September 4, 1951 in Canton, IL, the son of Ross Wayne and G. Elaine (Huff) Wooddell.  He attended elementary school in Ipava, IL; middle school at VIT Jr. High and graduated from Monmouth High School in 1970.

Wayne married Nancy Martin in Monmouth, IL in 1972.

He worked for Gunther Product from 1970-73, Volkswagen in Florida from 1973-76, A & D Management from 1976-82 and from 1982 until recently he was a self-employed Carpenter and contractor and jack of all trades.

Wayne enjoyed fishing, boating, hunting, camping and skiing.  He was always willing to help someone in need.  He never knew a stranger and always enjoyed visiting with family and friends, and was a great story teller.   He loved going on adventures, especially scuba diving, alligator hunting, and spelunking.

Survivors include his son, Rick (Tiffany Babcock) Wooddell of Monmouth; his daughter, Jo (Jamie) Myers of West Burlington, IA; grandchildren, Brody Wooddell, Carlee Wooddell, Ian Myers, Rebecca Myers and Brandon Myers; great granddaughter, Lilianna Myers, and his sister Joyce (Dale) Kirby of Monmouth.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be from 5:00-7:00 pm, Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth.  Cremation has been accorded.  Following the Gathering at the Funeral Home the family requests that you meet them at the Bijou Pub to honor Wayne.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Wayne Wooddell Memorial Fund.
