Wayne K. Rankin, 73, of Monmouth, IL, passed away at 6:55 pm, Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at the Roseville Health and Rehabilitation Center, Roseville, IL.
Wayne was born August 19, 1946 in Monmouth, IL, the son of Darius King and Betty (Johnson) Rankin. He was raised and educated in Roseville and graduated from Roseville High School in 1964.
Wayne proudly served in the United States Army from 1967-1970.
He married Barbara Ann Pratt. He later married Linda (Prizler) Mekshes on April 18, 1993 in Galesburg, IL; she survives.
Wayne worked for UPS as a driver for over 25 years. He and his wife Linda owned and operated the T-Shirt Factory in Monmouth for many years. Wayne was an avid golfer and was proud of his hole in one at Gibson Woods. He was a Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. He enjoyed restoring old jukeboxes and pinball machines with his cousin Robert Johnson. Wayne enjoyed traveling and getting together with his friends. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and attending their activities.
Surviving Wayne is his wife, Linda Rankin of Monmouth, IL; two sons, Darren Rankin (Joanie) of Peoria, IL, Brent (Michael) Mekshes-First of Marlton, NJ; two daughters, Tiffany Cole of Monmouth, IL, Traci Daniel (Steve) of Monmouth, IL; six grandchildren, Emily Rankin, Will Rankin, Drew (Sydney Enderlin) Cole, Erika Cole, Brittany (Gage Jones) Daniel, Abi Daniel. Also surviving is one great granddaughter, Althea Jones; one brother, Dennis (Carol) Rankin of Roseville, IL; one sister, Janet (Les) Warren of Mississippi; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Tara Rochelle Rankin.
Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, a private family funeral service with military honors will be held at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL. Cremation rites will be accorded following the service. Open visitation will be from 2:00-4:00 p.m., Friday, June 5, 2020 at the funeral home. A drive thru visitation with the family present will be from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to Rainbow Riders, Western IL Animal Rescue, or Veterans Assistance.
