W. Ernest "Ernie" Robinson

W. Ernest “Ernie” Robinson, 99, of Cameron, IL, passed away at 12:15 pm, February 14, 2018 at Courtyard Estates, Monmouth.

He was born on January 18, 1919 near Pleasant Plains, IL, the son of William Ernest and Nellie E. (Noble) Robinson.

On May 16, 1943 he married Mary Kathryn Jackson. In 1946 they moved to a farm near Cameron, IL, where they lived and raised their family. Ernie has a deep dedication and love for his faith, family, and farm. For over 65 years he was a cattle feeder and grain farmer.

His community service included serving as president of First United Methodist Church Board, president of Warren School Board, president of Warren County Farm Bureau Board, Tri-County Cattlemen member, Warren County Board member, Soil Conservation Board member, State Conservation Board member, State Agricultural Advisory Board, Warren County FS Board and named Outstanding Farmer of the Year of Warren County. Ernie and Mary K hosted a foreign exchange student as well as many farm tours. They loved to travel, including a mission trip to Costa Rica.

Ernie is survived by his 4 children, Janet Underwood, William (Karen) Robinson, Alyce (David) Jenks, Edward (Catherine) Robinson; 11 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 74 years, Mary Kathryn Robinson, brother, Emory Robinson, sister, Deloris Coleman and son in law, Bill Underwood.

Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, February 18, 2018 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth. Interment will be Silent Home Cemetery, Cameron, IL. Visitation will be prior to the service from 12:30-2:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church of Monmouth, Monmouth Courtyard Estates or Harbor Lights Hospice.
