Thomas W Cook

Thomas W. Cook Jr, 67, of Monmouth, IL died at 3:45 a.m. Monday, May 18, 2015 at the Monmouth Nursing Home, Monmouth.

He was born May 8, 1948 in Napa Valley, CA. the son of Thomas W. and Norma Jean (Estes) Cook Sr. He was raised and educated in Monmouth, graduating from Monmouth High School in 1967. He later graduated from Illinois State University in Normal with both Bachelors and Masters Degrees in History and English. He later went back to ISU to get a degree in Computer Science.

Tom taught English and History at Rushville High School and Orion High School. Most recently Tom was a Computer Analyst in Roanoke, VA. where he worked for Cooper-Crouse & Hinds.

Tom was a railroad enthusiast who enjoyed collecting railroad memorabilia and Lionel Trains. He loved old movies, was an avid reader and collected coins.

Survivors include his sisters, Judy (Larry) Leighty and Sandi (Randy) Harmon both of Monmouth and Sue Gimm of Davenport, IA; his brother, Jack Cook of Monmouth; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and nephew, Chad Gladfelter.

Cremation has been accorded. No services are planned at this time. McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth is in charge of the arrangements.
