Shirlee J. Damewood

Shirlee J. Damewood, 79, of Monmouth, IL died at 7:25 a.m. Saturday, June 18, 2016 at her home.

Shirlee was born May 23, 1937 in Galesburg, IL the daughter of Lorenzo Dow and Mary Elsie (Miller) Patterson. She was raised and educated in Galesburg, graduating from Galesburg High School in 1956.

Shirlee married Donald C. Damewood in Monmouth on March 23, 1958 and he died October 29, 2002.

She worked as a bookkeeper-secretary for many years as Super Sweet and Hicks Gas. She enjoyed word games and reading, especially James Patterson and Nora Roberts.

Survivors include her son, Jeff Damewood of Cameron, IL; 3 daughters, Mischelle (Dennis McLouth) Langford of Roseville, IL, Alicia Damewood of Davenport, IA and Heather (Heath Henderson) Damewood of LaGrange, MO;6 grandchildren, Bruce Damewood, Josh Langford, Jenna Damewood, Chelsea Langford, Danielle Hucklenbrick and Isabelle Henderson; 4 great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Joanne Sloan of Matherville, IL, Marilyn Jarvis of Oquawka, IL and Christine Hogan of Galesburg; 1 brother, Ron Patterson of Galesburg; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and 2 brothers, Richard Patterson and Donald Patterson.

A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, June 25, 2016 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth. Cremation has been accorded. A memorial fund has been established to be designated later.
