Anna Ruth Oaks, 94, of Monmouth died at 10:20 a.m., Saturday, December 13, 2014 at Seminary Manor in Galesburg, IL.

She was born April 16, 1920 in Little York, IL the daughter of Charles and Nellie (Ortery) McCullough. She received her education in the Little York School system, receiving her senior year at Monmouth High School, graduating in 1938.

Ruth married Carrol F. Oaks on February 14, 1939 in Galesburg, IL. He preceded her in death July 23, 2002.

She was a homemaker. Ruth and Carrol farmed near Monmouth until moving into Monmouth in 2001. In her earlier years she had hauled some of the Gerlaw Grade School Children and also worked at Forman Bindery.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Monmouth and the Warren County Home Bureau.

She is survived by a son, Howard Oaks of Monmouth; a daughter, Barbara (Gary) Ruwe of Davenport, IA.; grandson, Mark (Sue) Buttschau of Coal Valley, IL; step-great grandson, Orry (Chantelle) Peterson of Edgington, IL; two great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 5 sisters, and 3 brothers.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, December 18, 2014 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth with Rev. Jon Sims officiating. Burial will be in Warren County Memorial Park. Friends may call Thursday morning at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home where her family will be present one hour prior to the services. Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church, Monmouth or the American Diabetes Association. Online condolences may be left at www.mcguireanddaviesfuneralhome.com.
