Ronald E Mackey

Ronald E. Mackey 69, of rural Oquawka, IL passed away at 4:34 pm, Thursday, September 9, 2021 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center, Rockford, IL.

Ron was born April 4, 1952 in Greenbush, IL the son of Harold Eugene and Betty (Bollinger) Mackey.  He was raised and educated near Little York, IL and graduated from Yorkwood High School in 1971.

Ron married Diana McIntosh at the Biggsville Methodist Church on June 16, 1973.

Ron was a farmer his entire adult life.  He also worked as a groundskeeper at Gibson Woods Gold Course in Monmouth, IL for several years.

He was a member of the Fall Creek Rangers Gun Club and a local Rock Club.  Ron enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming, deer shed hunting, tractor pulls, scratch off tickets, mushroom hunting, playing cards, arrowhead hunting, watching go-kart races, going to area game feeds, yearly October skeet shoots on the bluff, farm shows and collecting numerous items. He lived for family reunions, being around family brought him great joy.

Survivors include his daughter, Michelle (Jesse) Carnes of Gladstone, IL; 3 grandchildren, Kayla (Joslin) Long of Stronghurst, IL, Alyssa (Adam) Long of Burlington, IA and Trace Long of Littleton, CO; his 3 brothers, Marvin (Vickie) Mackey of Decatur, IL, Kevin (Paula) Mackey of Oquawka, IL and Reginald “Reggie” McMeins of Wapello, IA;  1 sister, Val (Jordan) Tuller of the Villages, FL; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 daughters, Clarissa Mackey and Tammy Mackey.

Funeral services will be 10:30 am, Friday, September 17, 2021 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL.  Interment will take place at Biggsville Cemetery, Biggsville, IL.  Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 pm on Thursday, September 16, 2021 at the funeral home.  Memorials may be given to the Ronald Mackey Memorial Fund.  For more information or to leave an online condolence please visit, www.mcguireanddaviesfuneralhome.com.
