Robert L. Locke, Sr

Robert L. Locke, Sr., 77, of Monmouth, IL, passed away at 11:35 a.m., Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at his home.

He was born on September 6, 1938 in Galesburg, IL, son of Wavord and Mary Helen (Windom) Locke. Robert was raised and educated in Galesburg and graduated from Galesburg High School in 1956.

Robert married Mary Frances Bailey in Savanna, IL on February 13, 1961.

Following high school, Robert worked as a manager at the Orpheum & West Theaters in Galesburg. He then worked for 35 years at Admiral-Maytag in Galesburg as a line foreman, retiring in 1999. Robert loved flowers and was known for his flower gardens. He was a former member and treasurer of the Galesburg Eagles Club. Robert loved his family and was proud of his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Surviving are his daughters; Cindy (Kenny) Rogers of Hanover, IL, Tina (Jim) Conard of Monmouth, IL, and son, Robert L. Locke, Jr. of Hanover, IL. Also surviving are his grandchildren; Ande Anderson, Jessica (Stan) Yenney, Jennifer (Nick) Potaczek, Justin Deckard-Locke, Chelsie Locke, Megan Locke, Kenny (Kendra) Rogers, great grandchildren; Preston Yenney, Alee Schluening, Madison & Payton Potaczek, Jacob & Eric Rogers, Alana Rose Locke, Hayden Anderson and Kaylen Brinkmeier.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Bill Locke, and sister, Mary Locke.

A Gathering of Family & Friends will be 10:00-Noon, Monday, February 15, 2016 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth. Cremation rites have been accorded. A Private family interment will be in Warren County Memorial Park. Memorials can be made to Immanuel Baptist Church to be used for Operation Christmas Child.
