Richard C. Thompson

Richard C. Thompson, 66, of Monmouth, IL died at 7:08 a.m. Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.

He was born January 5, 1949 in Monmouth, IL the son of Lawrence and Margaret (Davis) Thompson. He was raised and educated in Warren County, graduating from Yorkwood High School in 1968. Richard served with the Illinois National Guard.

Richard married Rachel Hernandez in Monmouth on September 21, 1996 and she survives.

Richard farmed his entire life just west of Monmouth. He also did bulldozing for several years. He enjoyed fishing, mushrooming, hiking in the woods and woodworking.

Survivors include his wife, Rachel of Monmouth; daughters, Christel Thompson of Los Angeles, CA and Laura (Ray Johnson) Thompson of Monmouth, IL; his son, Michael (Charity Sanders) Thompson of Monmouth, IL; grandchildren, Jolie Johnson, Hannah Thompson, Emily Thompson, Addison Thompson, Rowen Thompson and Phoebe Thompson; his brother, Larry (Betty) Thompson of Little York, IL; niece, Teresa Thompson of Little York, IL; nephews, Patrick (Char) Thompson of Monmouth and Paul (Breanne) Thompson of Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A celebration of life will be from 4:00-6:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 29, 2015, at the Monmouth VFW. Cremation has been accorded. Memorials may be given to Immaculate Conception Church, Monmouth. McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth is in charge of the arrangements.
