Richard A. Johnson, 65, of Biggsville, IL, formerly of Monmouth, IL passed away at 6:20 am, Sunday, April 16, 2023, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, IL.
Richard was born August 25, 1957, in Monmouth, the son of Oscar L. and Betty (Clayton) Johnson. He was raised and educated in Monmouth, graduating from Monmouth High School in 1975.
He married Sherry Watson in Monmouth in 1978. He later married Wilbert Womack in Monmouth on June 2, 2020, and he survives.
Richard worked at Agar, Wilson Foods and Farmland as a butcher and on the kill floor. He also worked as a butcher at Giant Foods and Thrushwood Farms and finally was a custodian for the Monmouth School District.
He enjoyed cooking, boating, swimming, horseback riding, riding his bicycle and any other outdoor activity.
Survivors include his partner, Wilbert Womack of Biggsville, IL; his children, Jaclyn (Bryan) Spence of Monmouth and Nicolas (Sherry) Johnson of Corpus Christi, TX; grandchildren, Reagan Spence, Jackson Spence, Colton Spence, Christy Lunstedt and Corey Lunstedt; his brother, Gene Johnson of Monmouth; 3 nephews, Eric Johnson, Greg Johnson, Brandon A. Hamilton; and 1 niece, Jennifer Johnson; 2 great nieces, Jerzi Johnson and Scarlett Frakes.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson, Conner Lunstedt.
Graveside interment services will be 3:00 pm, Thursday, April 20, 2023, at Warren County Memorial Park, Monmouth, IL. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 pm, Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth.
