Ray M. Boyer, 88, of Monmouth, IL, formerly of Biggsville, IL died at 7:05 a.m. Sunday, May 10, 2015 at the Roseville Health Care Center, Roseville, IL. Ray was born March 5, 1927 in Biggsville, IL, the son of Arthur William and Pauline Fern (Stevenson) Boyer. He was raised and educated in Biggsville, graduating from Biggsville High School in 1945. He served with the United States Navy during World War II. Ray married Rose Darline Booten in Burlington, IA on June 15, 1946 and she survives. Ray farmed his entire life on the family farm near Biggsville until retiring in 2005. He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Biggsville, a 40 year member of the Biggsville Lions Club where he received the Melvin Jones Award as outstanding club member. He also served as the Lions Club District Governor. He was active with the Cub Scouts and received the Pilot's Award. He truly enjoyed spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife; sons, Michael (Vicki) Boyer of Indianapolis, IN and Anthony "Andy" (Jan) Boyer of Elko, NV; his daughter, Amy (John) Twomey of Roseville, IL; 5 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; sister, Pauline Hallberg of State College, PA. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 granddaughter and 3 sisters. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 14, 2015 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth. A private family interment with Military Honors will take place in Biggsville Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday at the funeral home where his family will be present from 9:30-11:00 a.m. Memorials may be given to the Roseville Heath Care Center or the Biggsville United Presbyterian Church.
