Penelope H. Mills

Penelope H. "Penny" Mills, 77, of Monmouth died at 3:28 P.M. Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Monmouth Nursing Home, Monmouth.

She was born July 22, 1935 in Galesburg, IL the daughter of Ernest and Eunice (Hollister) Heston. She was raised and educated in Monmouth graduating from Monmouth High School in 1953.

Penny married James Mills in Monmouth in April 1954.

She retired from JC Penny in Galesburg in 2004.

Penny was a longtime active member of the First Lutheran Church in Monmouth.

Survivors include her daughter, Gretchen (Michael) Pearman of Monmouth; son J. Mark (Lisa) Mills of Roseville; 3 grandsons, Drew Pearman, Adam (Sarah) Pearman and Dustin Mills; granddaughter, Sally Mills (Tony) Kelly; sister, Katherine (Edward) Garvey of Alamo, CA; 4 nephews, 1 niece and 1 great niece.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Cremation has been accorded. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at the First Lutheran Church of Monmouth with Rev. Keith Killinger officiating. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday morning where her family will be present one hour prior to the services. A private family burial will take place in Avon Cemetery. Memorials may be given to First Lutheran Church of Monmouth or the Warren County Library. Arrangements by McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, 309-734-6008.
