Paul W. Fredrickson, 79, of Galesburg, IL, formerly of Little York, IL died 7:27 pm, Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.
Paul was born October 31, 1937 in Seaton, IL the son of Everett and Bertha (Ranney) Fredrickson. He was raised and educated near Seaton and attended Belmont Grade School later graduating from Little York High School in 1955.
Paul married Ruth Burns near Little York on April 15, 1956 and she survives.
Paul farmed most of his life and later worked 11 years for BNSF Railroad as a Conductor.
He was one of the first volunteer firefighters in Little York. He was also a former member of the First Christian Church in Monmouth where he sang in the choir, Deacon, Elder, a representative at the St. Joseph’s Children’s Home and was very active in mission work at the church. He was currently attending Rozetta Baptist Church. He enjoyed square dancing, traveling, family vacations in Branson, teaching his grandchildren how to play checkers, western movies, especially John Wayne movies, riding horses, attending concerts, going to Circa 21, chocolate ice cream, his famous Easter Egg hunts and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Fredrickson of Galesburg; his children, Will Fredrickson of Little York, Chris (Peggy) Fredrickson of Monmouth and Todd (Pennee) Fredrickson of Little York; 12 grandchildren, Paul McVey, Jessica Fredrickson, Rachel (Deric) Thrasher, Haley (Claude) Gooch, Jenai (Ricardo) Banderas, Jenna (Justin) Haun, Christopher Fredrickson, Lyndsey Fredrickson, Victoria (Matt) Lovdahl, Bethany (Zach) Scanlan, Nicolette Fredrickson, and Grace Fredrickson; 20 great grandchildren; along with 2 soon to be expected great grandchildren; one brother, Donald (Judy) Fredrickson of Seaton, IL; special friend, Guy Mitchell of Monmouth; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Diane Fredrickson-Murdock and sister, LaJune Ricketts.
Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Monday, October 30, 2017 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth. Interment will be in Warren County Memorial Park, Monmouth. Visitation will be Sunday, Oct. 29, 2017 from 2:00-4:00 pm at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
