Patty D. Paulsgrove, 86, of Monmouth, IL, passed away at 10:33 a.m., Saturday, March 23, 2024 at OSF St. Mary’s Medical Center, Galesburg, IL. She was a friend and mentor to countless people, and those most blessed by her grace and unconditional love called her mom and grandma.
Patty was born in Monmouth, Illinois on December 4th, 1937 to Glen and Gertrude Redding. She was in high school when she met Robert Paulsgrove, and it didn’t take long for the pair to become inseparable. Over the next 64 years of marriage, Patty and Bob traveled the country, visited nearly every state, and always found time for little adventures. She could catch her own fish, invite songbirds to land on her shoulder, and tended to a beautiful and ever-expanding garden. Patty loved to sit on the porch and tell stories. She had a wonderful laugh that could instigate anyone around her. And if she could be around family, that was good enough for her.
It was Patty’s patience and pure joy when helping others that would show you this was someone who truly walked in the footsteps of the Lord. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church for more than five decades. She taught Sunday school and volunteered with the GMG and Awana programs. She loved sharing her testimony and faith with others.
Patty also spent 20-plus years working at Warren Achievement Center where she was a beloved staff member. As the Independent Living Skills Coordinator, Patty helped provide training for adults with developmental disabilities living in the community. And it all came natural to her — be kind, be in service to others. She made you believe in yourself. And there was nobody better to call when you just needed someone to talk to. She’ll be missed by so many people who loved her.
She is survived by her son, Robert Paulsgrove Jr. and wife Sharon of Monmouth, IL; daughter Nancy Paulsgrove of Monmouth, IL; grandchildren: Shawna, Erin, Caleb and wife Hillary, Sean, Madyson and partner Syd; great grandchildren: Olivia, Nex, Felix, Zach, Jordan, and Bryson.
Patty is preceded in death by her husband, Robert; parents, Glen and Gertrude; siblings, Shirley Admire, Robert Lee Redding, Glen Daniel Redding, and Russell Dean Redding.
