Opal E. Stacker, 80, of Cameron, IL, passed away at 12:35 p.m. Tuesday, December 14, 2021, at Seminary Manor in Galesburg, IL.
She was born February 19, 1941 in Smithshire, IL, the daughter of George Barnett and Minnie Cleo (Ross) Thomas. Opal graduated from Abingdon High School in 1959.
Opal married Ronald R. Stacker at the Cameron Christian Church on February 19, 1960 and he preceded her in death July 11, 2005.
Opal worked for many years as the Postmaster Relief at the Cameron Post Office. She enjoyed gardening, number fill-ins, decorating, cooking, and baking.
Surviving Opal is one daughter, Julie Deadmond of Cameron; two granddaughters, Megan (Richard) Burton of Georgia and Alyssa (Wes) Anderson of Cameron; one grandson, Nick (Kerbi) Stacker of Galesburg, IL; four great grandchildren and one on the way. Also surviving is one sister, Sue Dean of Cameron, IL, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ronald Stacker; son, Mark Stacker; four brothers, Gene Thomas, Jim Thomas, Pete Thomas, and Max Thomas; two sisters, Maxine Wherley and Kay Nelson.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, December 18, 2021 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth. Interment will be in Silent Home Cemetery in Cameron, IL. Visitation will be 5:00-7:oo p.m. Friday, December 17, 2021. Memorials can be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund. McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL, is in charge of the arrangements.
