Nedra E. (White) Baldridge

Nedra E. Baldridge, 99, of Monmouth, IL, passed away at 11:35 pm, Saturday, September 22, 2018 at the Rosewood Care Center, Galesburg, IL.

She was born on September 24, 1918 in Roseville, IL, the daughter of Everett and Blanche (Clark) White.  Nedra was raised and educated in Roseville.

Nedra married Donald E. Baldridge on September 1, 1940 in Palmyra, MO; he preceded her in death on March 6, 1984.

Nedra worked for the Model Clothing Store and the Fashion Shop in Monmouth and later for the State of Illinois Driver’s License Bureau in Monmouth.  In addition she helped with the family business, Baldridge Roofing Company.  Nedra was a faithful and active member of the Monmouth First Christian Church.  She was especially active in the mission’s ministry of the church and served as Deaconess for many years.  No day ever started without her time of a cup of coffee and Bible reading.  She enjoyed her home, family, flowers, reading non-fiction books, crossword and jigsaw puzzles.  She also enjoyed rock collecting, knitting, and was an avid Bridge player.  Nedra was known for her angel food cakes which she baked for her family and friends.  What most people were not aware of was that she was a poet.

Surviving Nedra is her daughter, Linda L. Barr of Monmouth; three granddaughters, Trisha Barr of Metamora, IL, Christina Marie Rafford of Maine, Ronna Perez of Galesburg, IL; two grandsons, David Barr of LaGrange, GA, and Bret Baldridge of West Melbourne, FL.  Also surviving are nine great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and her special families of Mary and LT Bryant and Dean and Ginny Clark.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; one son, Skip Baldridge; her siblings, Clark White, Verdane Tinder and Wanda Hollenberg.

Funeral Services will be at 11:00 am Friday, September 28, 2018 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth with Rev. Jim Epperson officiating.  Visitation will be from 10:00 - 11:00 am Friday morning at the funeral home. Interment will be in Monmouth Cemetery.  Memorials can be made to the North Burma Christian Mission or Hospice Compassus.
