Mildred L (Campbell) Garland

Mildred L. Garland, 91, of Monmouth, formerly of Little York, IL, passed away at 2:30 a.m., Thursday, January 28, 2021 at Monmouth Nursing Home, Monmouth, IL.

She was born on May 21, 1929 in Monmouth, IL, the daughter of Arthur and Mabel (Perrine) Campbell.  Mildred was raised and educated in Little York and graduated from Little York High School in 1947.

Mildred married Robert L. Garland on November 20, 1947 at Mildred’s parents’ home in Little York, IL; he preceded her in death on October 29, 2019.

Mildred was a homemaker, she loved taking care of her family and helping her husband on the farm.  She enjoyed her needlework and baking.  Bob and Mildred enjoyed traveling in the winters to Florida and Arizona.

Surviving Mildred are her four children, Linda (Tim) Larson of Poynette, WI, Karen (Scott) Gibson of Little York, IL, Kathy (Dean) Krug of Platte City, MO, Brad (Gayla Spence) Garland of Little York, IL; her grandchildren, Tara (Rob) Carr, Amy (Jeff) Koch, Shawna (Aaron) Grier, Travis (Rachel) Gibson, Ryan (Sarah) Larson, Darren (Bobbi) Krug, Garth (Nicole) Gibson; seventeen great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Joan Gertz of Mesa, AZ; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Garland; one brother, Clyde Campbell; sisters-in-law, Helen Campbell and Doris Garland; brothers-in-law, Jack Garland and Tom Gertz.

A private family funeral service will be at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL.  Interment will be in Warren County Memorial Park, Monmouth, IL.  Open visitation will be from 9:00a.m.-5:00 p.m., Friday, February 5, 2021 at the funeral home, the family will not be present.  Memorials can be made to Monmouth Nursing Home or the Alzheimer’s Association.
