Michael L Boyd

Michael L. Boyd, 68, of Monmouth, IL passed away at 7:52 pm, Tuesday, March 30, 2021 the Monmouth Nursing Home, Monmouth, IL.

Mike was born January 16, 1953 in Monmouth, Il, the son of Robert Ernest and LaRita Lou (Opp) Boyd.  He was raised and educated in Monmouth and graduated from Monmouth High School.

Mike married Jackie Bush in 1971.  He later married Donna JoAnn “DJ” Shawler in Guyman, OK on March 24, 1984 and she passed away on December 24, 2017.

Mike was a laborer at National Beef in Liberal, KS, and laid gas pipes in Texhoma, OK.

He loved spending time with his family and friends.  He also enjoyed drinking his beer, diet pop, playing cards, smoking his cigarettes, playing golf, fishing, going to auctions, and time spent with his grandchildren.  In his younger years he loved to play basketball and football with his brothers.

Survivors include his son, Michael Boyd Jr. of Monmouth, IL; 3 daughters, LaRita (Steve) Brent, Samanthe Boyd and Sarah Boyd all of Monmouth; 9 grandchildren, Jazmyn Copeland, Akirah Wallace, DaMonte Boyd-Crawford, Quentin Boyd- Crawford,  Brianna Brent, Kailey Brent, Zayln Brent, Amaya Brent and Camdyn Boyd-Crawford; 1 sister, Mary (Donald) Garrett of Monmouth, IL and 1 brother, Robert Boyd of Monmouth; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Steve Boyd and James “Jimbo” Boyd; his nephew, Robert Boyd.

A Celebration of Life will be from 10:00-12:00 pm Saturday, April 3, 2021 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL.  Cremation will take place following the Celebration with a private family interment at Warren County Memorial Park, Monmouth, IL to take place at a later date . Memorials may be given to the Michael L. Boyd Memorial Fund.
