Mary Kathryn (Jackson) Robinson, 95, of Cameron, IL passed away at 6:50 am, Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at Courtyard Estates, Monmouth.
She was born on December 23, 1921 near Joy, IL, the daughter of Chester H. and Della M. (Longley) Jackson. Mary K. was raised and educated in Joy, IL and attended Consolidated Grade School and graduated from Consolidated High School in 1939. After attending the University of Illinois she married W. Ernest Robinson on May 16, 1943 in Joy, IL, he survives.
Mary K. and Ernest lived in Macomb, IL while he served in the United States Army stationed at Camp Ellis; Mary K. was employed at Camp Ellis. In 1946 they moved to a farm near Cameron, IL, where they lived and raised their family.
Mary K. had a deep dedication and love for her faith, family, and farm. She enjoyed gardening and community involvement. Mary K. was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Monmouth, where she served as President of the United Methodist Woman and served as District President of the United Methodist Women. She was also active in numerous ministries over the years including making quilts for veterans and nursing homes. She served as President of the Warren County Homemakers, volunteered as a Warren School tutor, was a 4-H leader, volunteered at the Monmouth Hospital Gift Shop and hosted a foreign exchange student as well as many farm tours. Mary K and Ernie loved to travel, including a mission trip to Costa Rica.
Mary K. is survived by her husband of 74 years, W. Ernest Robinson; 4 children, Janet Underwood, William (Karen) Robinson, Alyce (David) Jenks, Edward (Catherine) Robinson; 11 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Maurice Jackson and son in law, Bill Underwood.
Funeral services will be 3:00 pm Sunday, September 3, 2017 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth. Interment will be Silent Home Cemetery, Cameron, IL. Visitation will be from 2:00-3:00 pm Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church of Monmouth, Monmouth Courtyard Estates or Harbor Lights Hospice.
