Mary A. Moore

Mary A. Moore, 93, of Monmouth, IL, died at 8:30 p.m., Saturday, July 23, 2016 at Courtyard Estates, Monmouth, IL.

She was born February 11, 1923 in Monmouth, IL, the daughter of Frank and Mary (Lopreste) Romano, she married Dale C. Moore on June 10, 1958 in Monmouth. He preceded her in death on March 25, 2003.

Surviving her are one daughter, Joan Moore of Pekin and two sisters in law, Lillian Romano and Maxine McCarl. Three brothers and three sisters, as well as her parents preceded her in death.

Mary worked at Frank Romano Grocery from 1940 to 1963. She was a partner in this business with her father, Frank Romano, Sr., her brother Frank Romano, Jr., and her sister Dolly Romano.

She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Monmouth. Mary was a member of the Altar & Rosary Society, The National Council of Catholic Women, the church choir (in her younger days) and served her church as a greeter and an Eucharistic Minister.

Mary was active in the Girl Scouts, Community Medical Center Auxiliary, the Immaculate Conception School Library and was a yearly benefactor of student scholarships. She was an avid New York Yankees fan and avid Notre Dame University sports fan. She enjoyed having extended family over for meals and sharing time with them along with flower gardening.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 28, 2016 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Monmouth with Msgr. Tom Mack celebrating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 27, 2016 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth with a Rosary beginning at 4:00 p.m. Memorials may be given to Immaculate Conception School.
