Mary A. Meyers, 96, of Monmouth died at 3:50A.M., Sunday, May 26, 2013 at OSF Holy Family Medical Center, Monmouth.

She was the daughter of Edward J. and Nellie Britton Malaney born July 11, 1916 in Monmouth, IL. By the age of two, both of her parents were killed in separate accidents and she was raised by her paternal grandmother, Mary McKay Malaney. She received her education from Immaculate Conception School and graduated from Monmouth High School in 1933. Her Church and Church Choir were her greatest childhood joys. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and its Altar & Rosary Society.

Mary worked at Western Stoneware, Carlson's Grocery and retired in 1980 from Gamble-Skogmo.

She married Ward Meyers in 1935 in Galesburg, IL. and they had two daughters. She enjoyed time with her family and was always ready for family and holiday dinners which were topped off with her special apple pie.

Her family eventually included 4 grandchildren, David Paul (Alison) Levine of O'Fallon, MO., Allison (Bill) Martin of Chesterfield, MO., Celinda (Tommy Lewis) Sage of New Boston, IL. and Patricia Weegar of Chandler, AZ; 7 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren; her daughter, Beverly Weegar of Monmouth; 3 special nieces; son in law, David W. Levine of St. Louis, MO.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Dorothy Meyers Levine in 1985, her husband, Ward in 1992 and son in law, Henry Weegar. She was also preceded by her grandparents who raised her, two infant siblings and her brother, Bernard Malaney.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Rev. Timothy D. Hepner celebrating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday morning at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where her family will be present from 10:00-11:00 A.M. Memorials may be given to Immaculate Conception School.
