Mary L. Dauma, 70, of Monmouth, IL passed away at 8:30 am, Tuesday, November 6, 2018 in San Benito, TX.
She was born December 2, 1947 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Granite City, IL, the daughter of Gail E. and Mary Jane (Schnefke) Phelps. She graduated from Granite City High School in 1965.
Mary married Jon Dauma on July 8, 1967 in St. Peters, MO and he survives.
Mary worked as a secretary for Bill Thompson at the National Bank of Monmouth and later for Lynn Long at Long Motors in Monmouth.
She was a member of the Heritage Bible Church, the Monmouth American Legion Auxiliary and D.A.R. She volunteered for many years with the American Red Cross and for 13 years as a counselor at Illini Girls State at Eastern Illinois University. She enjoyed quilting, sewing and playing cards. She loved spending time with her family, especially her granddaughter.
Survivors include her husband, Jon of Monmouth; daughter, Lisa (A.J. Bresnahan) Dauma of Galva, IL; granddaughter, Abigail Dauma of Galva; mother in law, Verlee Dauma of Memphis, MO; 3 aunts, Cleo Schnefke, Irene Schnefke and Sandy Schnefke all of Granite City, IL; several cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and uncles.
Memorial services will be 10:30 am, Monday, November 19, 2018 at the Heritage Bible Church, Monmouth. Visitation will be from 2:00-4:00 pm Sunday, November 18, 2018 at McGuire and Davies Funeral Home, Monmouth. Memorials may be given to the Heritage bible Church or the Monmouth American Legion Auxiliary.
