Mary A. Damewood

Mary A. Damewood, 73, of Knoxville, Ill., formerly of Galesburg, died at 6:58 P.M. Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.

Mary was born December 24, 1940 in Lindsay, NE the daughter of Leonard and Ann U. (Ruppert) Hanson.

She married Harold Damewood on November 6, 1964 in East Galesburg, Ill., he preceded her in death on December 30, 2005.

Mary worked for several years at Admiral in Galesburg.

She enjoyed going antiquing with her husband and playing pitch with her friends.

Mary is survived by three daughters: Diane Brown of Cameron, IL. Cheryl (Jay) Brewer of Centerville, Ia., Carolyn (Shannon) Hise of Knoxville, IL., seven grandchildren, Lindsey Brown, Neileigh (Jason) Payne, Gavin Brown, Shaye Brewer, Lane Brewer, Karsen Hise and Grant Hise; her mother, Ann Hanson of Galesburg, and sister, Betty Lou Harvey of Nebraska. Also surviving are dear friends Nancy and Bill Clayton of Monmouth, Karen Lafferty of Galesburg, Carol Williams of Galesburg and numerous other close friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her father, husband, and son-in-law Denny Brown.

Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, September 29, 2014 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth. Interment will be in Monmouth Cemetery. Friends may call Monday morning at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth where her family will be present from 9:30-10:30 A.M.. A memorial fund will be designated at a later date.
