Martha M. "Marty" Moyer, 86, of Monmouth, passed away at 4:00 a.m., Thursday, April 2, 2015 at the Rosewood Care Center in Moline, IL. She was born on April 2, 1929 in Syracuse, NY, and is the daughter of Noel and Dorothy (Michener) Wysong. Marty earned her Bachelor's Degree in Biology from Monmouth College. Marty married Thomas Moyer on July 14, 1950 in Park Ridge, IL. He preceded her in death on June 22, 2007. She was introduced to Tom by his mother, Mary Moyer, her Sunday school teacher. Marty was the Tiger Tots Nursery School Director in Paris, IL from 1970-1982. She then worked as the secretary at the First United Methodist Church in Eldon, MO from 1982-2000. Marty and Tom moved to Monmouth in 2004. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Monmouth, where she enjoyed volunteering her time. Marty was a long time member of P.E.O. She and Tom loved to travel all around the country square dancing. Marty traveled with Tom on many of his business trips to different countries, she enjoyed observing and learning new cultures. She earned the Red Cross Blood Donation Badge of Honor. Marty was an avid reader and she loved her dogs and cats. She was a very open minded, non-judgmental, sweet, gentle woman who was known for her wit. Marty is survived by her two daughters: Debra Dal Compo (Thomas) of Algonquin, IL; Laurel Walker (Mark) of Moline, IL; her grandchildren: Victoria Dal Compo of Fox River Grove, IL; Anthony Dal Compo of Algonquin, IL; Sarah Walker Buss (David) of Metamora, IL; Jon Walker of Moline, IL; her great grandchildren: Andrew and Annika Buss, both of Metamora, IL. Also surviving are two brothers: David Wysong of Lincoln, NE; Bryan Wysong (Terry) of Marion, CT; and one sister Miriam Meyer (Jerry) of DeKalb, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Thomas, and son, Mark Daniel Moyer. Memorial Services will be at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, April 11, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church in Monmouth. Interment of her ashes will be in the Monmouth Cemetery. Her family will be present to greet friends prior to the service at the church from 10:00-11:30 a.m. Memorials can be made to the First United Methodist Church in Monmouth or the Alzheimer's Association.
