Maria J. Arteaga Pinedo

Maria J. Arteaga Pinedo, 85, of Monmouth, passed away at 2:35 a.m., Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg.

She was born on June 25, 1930 in Jalisco, Mexico, the daughter of Manuel Arteaga and Felipa Godina. Maria was raised and educated in Mexico.

Maria married Antonio Pinedo in Jalisco, Mexico. He preceded her in death on April 20, 1981.

Maria was a homemaker; her life was taking care of her family. She was very religious, and prayed daily for her family and for world peace. Maria loved to garden flowers and vegetables. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Monmouth.

Surviving Maria are her sons; Lamberto (Chayo) Pinedo of Monmouth, Vicente (Eva) Pinedo of Riverbank, CA, Juan (Barbara) Pinedo of Monmouth, Francisco Pinedo of Arizona, Jose U. (Martha) Pinedo of Monmouth, and Jose L. (Maria R.) Pinedo of Monmouth, her daughters; Emilia Pinedo of Monmouth, Maria (Enrrique) Hernandez of Rochelle, IL, Socorro Pinedo of Modesto, CA, and Concha (Alejandro) Rosas of Monmouth. Also surviving are her brothers; Jeronimo, Samuel, and Miguel Arteaga, her sisters; Cuca, Ines, Luz, and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 25, 2016 at Immaculate Conception Church, Monmouth. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Monmouth. Visitation will be 5:00-8:00 p.m., Friday evening at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth. Memorials can be made to Immaculate Conception Church.
