Lynn H. McGill

Lynn H. McGill, 74, of Monmouth, IL, passed away at 9:47 a.m., Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, IA.

She was born August 16, 1943 in Monmouth, IL the daughter of Bruce and Betty (Boggs) McCrery. She was raised and educated in Monmouth, graduating from Monmouth High School in 1959 and later Monmouth College in 1964.

Lynn married Arley McGill in Rantoul, IL in 1966 and he survives.

Lynn first worked at Warren Achievement then Knox-Warren Special Education before working as a teacher’s aide for the Yorkwood School District and most recently the United School District. She was a proud Air Force wife and enjoyed seeing the world with her husband and family.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Monmouth, the Monmouth Chapter of P.E.O. where she served as Chaplain and a local Book Club. She enjoyed playing Bridge, walking, exercising, gardening, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Arley McGill of Monmouth; four children, Scott A. McGill of Springfield, IL, Bret A. (Julie) McGill of Peoria, IL, Aaron T. McGill of Bettendorf, IA and Amanda M. (Rodney) Swain of Bettendorf, IA; three grandchildren, Noah Swain, Nora Swain and Sam McGill; her niece, Meghan (Bob) Rogers of Chesterton, IN; great niece and nephew, Ellie and John Rogers.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister and brother in law, Martha (Kerry) Brunette.

Memorial services will be at 3:00 pm Sunday, March 11, 2018 at McGuire and Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth. Visitation will be Sunday from 1:00-3:00 pm. Cremation has been accorded. Memorials may be given to the Illinois Cancer Center or the Western Illinois Animal Rescue, Monmouth.
