Lucy M. Garner

Lucy M. Garner, 77, of Monmouth, IL, died at 1:47 pm Monday, February 19, 2018 at the Monmouth Nursing Home, Monmouth, IL.

She was born January 1, 1941 in Monmouth, IL the daughter of Clifford R. and Bessie (Schultz) Lefort. Lucy was raised and educated in Monmouth.

Lucy married Jerry D. Garner Sr. on March 8, 1958 in Burlington, IA; he passed away January 16, 2018.

Lucy worked as a seamstress at Formfit in Monmouth. She later worked in housekeeping at Pinewood Nursing Home in Monmouth until its closing. Lucy enjoyed gardening, scrapbooking, and embroidering. Most of all, she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Surviving Lucy is her two children, Jerry D. (Jean) Garner, Jr. of Little York, IL, Julie Colwell of Oquawka, IL; four grandchildren, James Robert Garner of Galesburg, IL, Jessica Garner of Galesburg, IL, Jeffrey Colwell of Stronghurst, IL, and Holly Colwell of Oquawka, IL. Also surviving are six great grandchildren; sister, Pat Garner of Monmouth; nieces and nephews. .

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Sandy Garner, grandson Jason Carnes, and sister, Mary Jo Poole.

Cremation rites have been accorded. No services or visitation are planned at this time. McGuire and Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth is in charge of the arrangements.
