Lorence G. Jensen

Lorence G. Jensen, 85, of Monmouth, IL died at 12:50 P.M. Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at the Monmouth Nursing Home.

He was born July 19, 1929 in Berwick, IL the son of Hans J. and Anna Christina (Jensen) Jensen. He was raised and educated in Alexis, graduating from Alexis High School in 1947.

Lorence married Shirley I. Speck in Texas on January 31, 1951 and she survives.

Lorence served with the United States Army from 1951 to 1953.

He was a foreman at Admirals in Galesburg before retiring after 36 years. He also helped his father and brother farm near Gerlaw.

Lorence was a member of the Gerlaw Christian Church, the Monmouth VFW Post #2301 and the Monmouth American Legion Post #136.

Surviving is his wife of 64 years, Shirley; his daughter, Gail (Rob) Loquist of Monmouth; son, Larry (Kelly) Jensen of Alexis; 4 grandchildren, Brian Loquist, Abbey Tappenbeck, Brennan Jensen and Michael Jensen; 3 great grandchildren, Luke Loquist, Cameron Tappenbeck and Alayna Tappenbeck; brother, Paul Jensen of Alexis; sister, Marian Gardner of Gerlaw; several nieces and nephews.

Cremation has been accorded. No visitation or services are planned at this time. Burial at Warren County Memorial Park will take place at a later date. A memorial fund has been established to be designated later. Arrangements are being handled by McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth.
