Loeta E. Merry

Loeta E. Merry, 78, of Monmouth, IL, passed away at 8:20 p.m. Friday, January 8, 2016 at OSF Holy Family Medical Center, Monmouth.

Loeta was born November 24, 1937 in Rozetta Township, Henderson County, IL. She is the daughter of Henry W. and Hazel C. (Knutson) Collins. Loeta was raised and educated in Monmouth and graduated from Monmouth High School in 1955.

She married William W. Merry on March 24, 1957 in Monmouth; he survives.

Loeta worked as a bookkeeper in Monmouth at Supersweet Feeds for 5 years, Avco Finance Company for 11 years, Merry Appliance for 5 years, and Monmouth Ready Mix for 11years, retiring in 2000. She enjoyed sewing, crafting, going on 4-wheeling trips with friends and especially spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband, William Merry of Monmouth, one daughter Valarie (Tim) Bentz of Oswego, IL, two grandsons; Jacob and Joshua Bentz of Oswego, IL, one brother Theodore A. Collins of Midland, TX, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Loeta was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Marlene Weber, three brothers; Patrick Collins, Gerald "Buster" Collins, and Henry Collins, Jr.

Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 14, 2015 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth. Interment will be in Warren County Memorial Park. Visitation will be prior to the service from 12:30 -2:00 p.m. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated later.
