Linda Nickols, 63, of Monmouth. IL died peacefully at 12.15 P.M. Monday, February 17, 2014 after a 2 year battle with cancer.

Linda was born on September 9, 1950 in La Harpe, IL; she is the daughter of Paul Clayton and Grace Caroline (Means) Nickols. She was raised and educated primarily in Monmouth and graduated from Monmouth High School in 1968.
She married James A. Montroy, Sr. in Monmouth, IL in May of 1976.

Linda was the Clerk of Academic Records at Monmouth College for 16 years. She later worked in the customer service department at Dick Blick in Galesburg for 12 years.

Linda attended the Open Bible Church in Galesburg, IL. She enjoyed drawing and all forms of art, motorcycles, playing cards and gambling, playing pool in several area pool leagues, and celebrating Halloween.

She is survived by her two children: James "Ike" (Sherry) Montroy of Monmouth, and Kelly (Sean) McKee of Monmouth; six grandchildren: Aryssia D. Montroy, Mason J. Montroy, Tristan J. Montroy, Cameron J. Montroy, Greyson S. McKee, and Madalyn G. McKee; two great grandchildren: Keigan E. Thacker and Drake K. Bielser. Her siblings: Harry Gulick, Jr. of Monmouth, Sandy (Gary) Burkett of Monmouth, Melvin Nickols of Monmouth, Dean (April) Nickols of Oquawka, IL, and Chuck (Linda) Nickols of Burlington, IA. Several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews survive.

Her beloved chiweenie dog and loyal companion "Miss Dixie" also survives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Brothers George and Lonzo, Sister Pauline Ann, and one Grandson Jordan D. Montroy.

A memorial service will be at 7:00 p.m., Friday, February 28th, 2014 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory in Monmouth. Her family will be present from 5:00-7:00 p.m. to receive friends. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated at a later date.
