Leroy "Butch" E. Lathrop

Leroy E. “Butch” Lathrop, 82, of Monmouth, IL passed away at 12:20 pm, Monday, June 6, 2022, at his home.

Butch was born February 26, 1940, in Monmouth, IL the son of Fred and I. Rose (Van Draska) Lathrop.  He was raised and educated in Monmouth, attending Monmouth High School.

Butch was a forklift driver at Alton Box in Galesburg for 40 years retiring in 2002.

Butch loved his home.  He enjoyed playing pool, visiting with people and spending time with his family. He enjoyed being very social and never met a stranger. He enjoyed NASCAR racing and was a huge St. Louis Cardinals fan.

Survivors include his 4 sisters, Peggy Figle and Sharon Lathrop both of Monmouth, IL, Judy Crinklaw of Omaha, NE and Cheryl Lathrop of Council Bluff, IA; his 4 brothers, Dan (Kay) Lathrop of Monmouth, IL, Joe (Lois) Lathrop of Dekalb, IL, Darrell (Barb) Lathrop of Oquawka, IL and “Doc” Mike (Linda) Lathrop of Beardstown, IL; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Rozella Liggett; his brother, Larry Lathrop; nephews, Bryan Figle and Dustin Liggett; brothers-in-law, Joe Crinklaw and Danny Liggett.

Funeral services will be 1:00 pm, Sunday, June 12, 2022, at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL, Visitation will be from 11:30- 1:00 pm Sunday at the funeral home.  Cremation will take place following the services.  Memorials may be given to Wester Illinois Animal Rescue (WIAR) and sent to the funeral home.   For more information or to leave an online condolence please visit, www.mcguireanddaviesfuneralhome.com.
