Leland D. Hank, Sr., 83, of Monmouth, IL, passed away at 1:35 p.m., Friday, September 18, 2020 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, IL.
He was born on September 8, 1937 in Henderson County, IL, the son of Will and Edith (Babbitt) Hank. He was raised and educated in Monmouth and attended Monmouth Schools. In 1954 he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served until 1958.
Leland first married Jeanne Frank and later married Ella Teel in 1988.
After leaving the military, he began driving trucks. He drove for Munson Transportation, DCM Transportation, Thompson Trucking, and his own company, Hank Trucking. Leland loved seeing the world through the windshield and listening to country music with his two favorite travelers, Bella & Rossco. He can now see heaven through the window of a truck, Happy Trails Leland.
Surviving Leland are his children Shawn (Connie) Hank of North Dakota and Bill (Chrissy) Hank of Aledo, IL, Montie (Brenda) Hank of Ft. Worth, TX, Terry (Sandra) Hank of Aledo, IL, Leland “Spud” (Sandra) Hank of Princeville, IL, Donald Wilson, Roganne (Cort) Chambers, Rodney (Bev) Teel, and Gary Teel. Also surviving are many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Georgia Metcalf of Monmouth, IL; one brother, Roger (Lousie) Hank of Galesburg, IL and one "Special Brother", Roger Teel of Monmouth, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother, Raymond Hank, one brother, Bill Hank; three sisters, Martha Brown, Maxine Short, Mary Creamer; and two infant great grandsons.
A Gathering of Family & Friends will be from 2:30-4:30 p.m., Saturday, September 26, 2020 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL. Military Honors will be at 4:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorials can be made to Shop a Cop or Western Illinois Animal Rescue. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions and requirements, all attendees are required to wear a mask and maintain social distancing.
