Larry Sims

Larry L. Sims, 71, of Alexis, passed away at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Marigold Rehab and Health Care Center, Galesburg, IL.

He was born on July 7, 1945 in Moline, IL, the son of Donald “Raymond” and Helen (Carlson) Sims. He was raised and educated in North Henderson, and graduated from Alexis High School in 1963.

Larry married Paula Fleck on October 12, 1984 in Aledo, IL, she survives.

Larry farmed all his life in the Alexis area, he loved farming and anything to do with nature. He loved John Deere tractors, and collected John Deere farm toys. Most of all, Larry loved to spend time with his family. He was a member of Alexis United Presbyterian Church.

Surviving Larry is his wife, Paula Sims of Alexis, Three children; Ann (Art) Rousseau of Morgantown, WV, Brent (Dianna) Sims of Galesburg, Dayna (Andrew) Leichty of Little York, IL; four grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Also surviving is his mother Helen Sims of North Henderson, IL; one sister, Brenda (Dave) Fell of Galesburg, two brothers; Gary (Nancy) Sims of Alexis, Gene (Patty) Sims of Alexis, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Sims.

A Gathering of Family & Friends will be 5:00-7:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth. Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorials can be made to the Gordon Behrents Senior Center in Galesburg.
