Joseph M. Louck, 70, of Monmouth, IL passed away at 9:35 am, Friday, March 12, 2021 at his home.
Joe was born January 16, 1951 in Monmouth, IL the son of John Melvin and Katherine M. (Kimmett) Louck. He was raised and educated in Monmouth, graduating from Monmouth High School in 1969. Following graduating from High School Joe enlisted in the Illinois National Guard for a total of 12 years rising to rank of Staff Sergeant.
Joe married Connie L. Simpson in Monmouth on January 23, 1970 and she passed away on August 20, 2010.
Joe worked as a mechanic at Cavanagh Motors in Monmouth, Illinois Department of Transportation and then the Illinois National Guard. They moved to Ohio and worked as a mechanic at Sears for several years and later retired from Mike Castrucci Ford. He owned and operated a Shell Station in Monmouth on East Broadway for a time. Joe and Connie also owned and operated the Country Corner Café in Oquawka for several years.
He was a member of the Monmouth Train Club. He enjoyed working on cars, listening to music, collecting antiques, building computers, watching movies especially westerns, crime movies and old black and white movies. He was always seen with a cigar in his mouth.
Survivors include his daughter, Heather J. (John) Hernandez of Stronghurst, IL; his grandchildren, Brittani Olson and Sincora Hernandez; his great grandchildren, Braelynn Olson and Jennings Fink; 2 brothers, John M. Louck and Mike (Judy) Louck both of Monmouth, IL; 2 sisters, Kathy A. (James) Ford of Florence, AZ and Nancy E. (Jimmy) Engelhard of California; his aunt, Alice May of Monmouth, IL; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife; his uncle, Cecil May and sister-in-law, Margo Louck.
Cremation has been accorded. Graveside committal services will 10:00 am Thursday, March 18, 2021 at the Oquawka Cemetery, Oquawka, IL. Memorials may be given to the Joseph M. Louck Memorial Fund and sent to the funeral home. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, all attendees are required to wear a mask and social distance. McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL is in charge of the arrangements.
