John R. Elliott

John R. Elliott, 61, of Monmouth, Ill. passed away at 5:12 p.m. Friday, August 22, 2014 at his home.

John was born September 23, 1952 in Monmouth, Ill. the son of Robert G. and Betty J. (Howard) Elliott both of Monmouth. After attending Monmouth area schools, John began working at Achievement Industries in 1976 where he continued to work until recently.

One of John's many interests was music and he enjoyed being in the choir at the First United Methodist church of Monmouth for many years.

Survivors include his brothers, Wesley (Joyce) Elliott of East Peoria, Ill., and Michael (Barbara) Elliott of Glenarm, Ill.; sister, Kathleen Elliott of Monmouth; nieces, Julie Buckerfield of Washington, Ill., Kerry (Bryon) Kronk of Torrington WY and Megan (Sam) Sarver of DePere, WI.; his aunt Rosemary Huston of Quincy, Ill. and uncle Howard (Regina) Miller of Monmouth, along with numerous cousins and other extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, aunts, Regina Miller and Helen McBride.

Memorial services for John R. Elliott and his Mother Betty J. (Howard) Elliott will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 18, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church in Monmouth. Interment will be at a later date. Memorials may be given to Achievement Industries, First United Methodist Church of Monmouth or Hospice Compasses, Galesburg.
