John E. Bresnahan, 78, of Monmouth, IL passed away at 4:00 pm, Monday, January 25, 2021 at his home.
John was born May 7, 1942 in Monmouth, IL the son of James R. and Mary J. (Gaul) Bresnahan. He was raised and educated in Monmouth, graduating from Immaculate Conception School and he attended Monmouth High School.
John married Patricia Mills on June 10, 1961 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Monmouth, IL and she survives.
He was an area Forman for DeKalb Seed in Monmouth, IL. He later was a truck driver for Wells Pet Food and Road Link.
He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Monmouth, IL. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, guns, going to flea markets and auctions. He was a lifetime member of the NRA. He also enjoyed visiting with his friends and social hour with Pat.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Bresnahan; his children, Toni Kay Robbins and John Michael Bresnahan all of Monmouth, IL; 4 grandchildren, Rachel Robbins, Raleigh Robbins, Ramsey Robbins & Rory Robbins; 6 great grandchildren, Jordan Robbins, Madison Robbins, Morgan Robbins, Xander Robbins, Myles Robbins and Rorie Lynn Robbins; 1 sister, Rosemary Hufford of Reno, NV; 2 sisters-in-law, VaNita Bresnahan of Monmouth, IL and Judy Totten of Wataga, IL; 2 brothers in law, Larry Mills of Monmouth and Rick (Rita) Mills of Galesburg, IL; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 great granddaughter, Raelynn Robbins; 2 brothers, Hank Bresnahan and Charles Bresnahan.; his son in law, Ricky Robbins.
A private Mass of Christian Burial will be at Immaculate Conception Church, Monmouth, IL. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Monmouth, IL. Open visitation will be from 9:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m., Thursday, January 28, 2021 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL. The family will not be present. Memorials may be given to the John Bresnahan Memorial Fund. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, all attendees are required to wear a mask and social distance.
