Joan M. Unger

Joan M. Unger, 67, of Monmouth, passed away at 7:40 p.m., Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at her home.

She was born on January 4, 1948 in Monmouth; she is the daughter of George and Betty Rose Meehan Whitehall. She was raised and educated in Monmouth and graduated from Monmouth High School.

Joan married Kenny Unger on August 30, 1997 in Monmouth, he survives.

Joan worked for several years as a District Manager for Casey's General Stores; she was also store manager at Casey's General Store in Monmouth for a time. She enjoyed drinking coffee, crossword puzzles, knitting, and especially spending time her family and grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband Kenny Unger of Monmouth, her mother Betty Whitehall of Monmouth, daughter Becky (Chad) Gorman of Monmouth, son Steve Wisehart of Woodstock, Ga., step daughter Katy Unger of Little York, Ill., grandchildren Stephenie Stotler of Peoria, Ill., Kindra and Logan Unger of Little York, sisters; Janet (Bill) Hart of Monmouth, Judy (David) French, Joyce (David) Martin, and brothers; Ed (Pat) Whitehall, and Steve (Sarah) Whitehall.

Joan was preceded in death by her father and her daughter Shellby Marie Logsdon.

Cremation rites will be accorded. No services are planned at this time. McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth is in charge of the arrangements.
