Jane I. Simpson, 68, of Alexis, IL passed away at 12:00 pm, Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at OSF Holy Family Medical Center, Monmouth, IL.
Jane was born August 5, 1954, in Monmouth, IL the daughter of Charles and Patricia (Bevenour) Hiett. She was raised and educated in Monmouth, graduating from Monmouth High School in 1972 and later graduated with honors, Phi Theta Kappa, from Carl Sandburg College with a degree in accounting.
Jane married Joe Simpson on April 25, 1975, in Monmouth.
Jane worked at Option Care, First Financial and County Companies but most recently, the last 20 years, she was a personal assistant for her good friend Charles Malcolm in Monmouth.
She was a member of the St. Theresa Catholic Church, Alexis where she previously taught Catechism classes. She also served as a Boy Scout leader in the Alexis community. Jane was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and was delighted when they won the World Series in 2016. Her main focus was taking care of Charles and her family. She also enjoyed collecting antiques and thrift shopping with her granddaughter.
Survivors include her children, Josie Thomas of Monmouth and Jesse (Jane) Simpson of Wataga, IL; 7 grandchildren, Olivia Roden, Ivy Roden, Vivian Lair, Max Lair, Nicholas (Jennifer) Simpson, Jalen Simpson and Abigail Simpson; stepbrother, Timothy Case of VT.
She was preceded in death by her parents, including her stepmother, Virginia Heitt, grandsons, Fox Roden and Coleman Lair.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be 10:00 am, Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, Alexis, IL. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Monmouth, IL. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 pm Monday, April 10, 2023, at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth with a Rosary Service beginning at 4:30 pm.
