James W. "Bill" Altis

James Altis, 86, of Monmouth, passed away at 8:15 a.m., Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at Rosewood Care Center, Galesburg. He was born February 12, 1929 in Cabool, MO the son of Idamae Armstrong. He was raised and educated in Salinas, CA, graduating from Salinas High School in 1946. Bill married Anne R. Bland in Aledo, IL on February 18, 1949 and she survives. Bill worked as a Union Plumber for 45 years. He enjoyed gardening and yardwork. Survivors include his wife, Anne Altis of Monmouth; son, Don (Barb) Altis of Lake Warren, IL; daughters, Connie Faulkner and Mary Kaye Altis both of Monmouth; 6 grandchildren, Cathy Altis, Carol Rakestraw and Casey (Brian) Davis all of California, Amy (Scott) Hume, Nicole Taylor and Kelly Hull all of Monmouth; 15 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his mother. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 22, 2015 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth. Burial will be in Candor Cemetery, Seaton. Friends may call Friday morning at the funeral home where his family will be present from 10:00-11:00. Memorials may be given to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
