Jacqueline Jean Lam, 53, of Monmouth, passed away at 2:48 a.m., Sunday, December 7, 2014 at her home.
She was born February 16, 1961 in Hampton, IA., the daughter of John Lowell and Helen Jean (Sondergaard) Simons. She was raised and educated in Hampton, graduating from Hampton Community High School in 1979.
Jackie married Wayne E. Lam, Jr. in Hampton, IA. on June 2, 1984. They were happily married for 28 years. Wayne passed away Oct. 9, 2012.
Jackie was first and foremost a mom who loved taking care of her family. She worked at several area businesses, most recently at Monsanto in Monmouth. She loved being around and working with people and was very outgoing. She fought to live to spend time with her family and friends. Jackie had a knack for putting her personal touch on everyone's lives.
She was a member of the Fairview Center United Methodist Church where her faith and church family where a very important part of her life.
Surviving loved ones include her son, Cody Lam of Monmouth, IL; daughter, Allison (Nick) Janusz of Sleepy Hollow, IL; sisters, Christy (Jim) Burmester of Hampton, IA. and Kathleen Dana of Milford, IA. Also surviving are 5 nieces and nephews, and 8 great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother, Kevin Simons.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, December 13, 2014 at the Fairview Center United Methodist Church, officiated by Pastor Gabe Wanck. Visitation will be Friday, December 12, 2014 from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at Fairview Center UMC. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Fairview Center United Methodist Church.
