Irma F. McIntosh

Irma F. McIntosh, 92, of Monmouth, passed away at 2:20 p.m., Thursday, January 15, 2015 at OSF Holy Family Medical Center, Monmouth.

She was born on February 7, 1922 at the home of her parents in Warren County, IL, and is the daughter of Thomas and Roxie (Neal) Stevens. Irma was raised and educated in Little York, and graduated from Little York High School. She then attended Monmouth College, and graduated from nurses training in Burlington, Ia.

Irma married Archie McIntosh, Jr. on January 21, 1943 in Chicago, IL; he preceded her in death in June of 2004.

Irma worked for several years at Monmouth Hospital as a registered nurse and a private duty nurse. Irma and Archie loved entertaining family and friends in their home. Irma also enjoyed gardening, especially flowers, decorating, quilting, and crocheting. She was a member of the Kirkwood United Methodist Church, Homemakers Extension, P.E.O., Kirkwood Senior Citizens, and the Red Hatters.

She is survived by her son, Ben (Anne) McIntosh of Monmouth, granddaughters; Amy (Brian) Huston of Roseville, IL, and Wendy (Steve) Buster of Knoxville, IL. Also surviving are her great grandchildren; Corey Sprout, Noah and Maggie Huston, Ainsley and Abe Buster; her sister Lucille Polling of Kirkwood, and her brother Jack Stevens of Monmouth.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters; Isabel Stevens, Ozella Stevens, Helen Vaughn, Maxine Simmonson and infant brother Thomas Stevens.

Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 19, 2015 at Kirkwood United Methodist Church, Kirkwood. Interment will be in Center Grover Cemetery. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials can be made to the Kirkwood Senior Citizens. McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth is in charge of the arrangements.
