Hugh F. Poulson

Hugh "Phil" F. Poulson, 78, of Oquawka, IL died at 4:30 A.M. Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at his home.

Phil was born August 7, 1935 in Kelly Township, Warren Co. IL. the son of George WC and Minnie (Brown) Poulson. He was raised and educated in rural Cameron, IL.

Phil served with the United States Army from 1953 A� 1956.

Phil married Mary Anna Payne in 1955. He later married Bonnie Eiler in Burlington, IA on Oct. 13, 1961 and they were married for 51 years before her passing on March 12, 2013.

Phil was a mechanic and farmer. He also worked several years before retiring from Gale Products and then Farmland Foods. He also worked for Whitey's Tree Service in Monmouth.

He was a member of the Monmouth VFW Post #2301 and the Oquawka Eagles Club. He enjoyed watching westerns, fishing, hunting and playing games.

Survivors include his sons, Hugh F. (Vickie) Poulson, Jr. of Eureka Springs, AR. and Frank Hendrickson of Rock Island, IL; daughters, DeAnna (Harold) Henshaw and Mary Rose (Gary) Morrison both of Oquawka, Linda J. Sander of Utah, JoElla (Desi) Vacher of Wyoming and Connie Hendrickson of Monmouth; 14 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren; 7 sisters, Jewel Winters of Galesburg, Dorothy Bolander of Davenport, IA., Becky Haring of Long Beach, CA., June Friend, of Galesburg, Joy Wetzel of Macomb, Alice Poulson of Cameron and Sharon Ginther of Abingdon, IL.; brother, David Poulson of Galesburg; and his loyal companion, Tator of Oquawka.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Bonnie; 1 brother, Sonny; 5 sisters, Minnie, Irene, Anna, Rose and Marge; 1 son, Rick Hendrickson.

A celebration of Phil's life will be 11:00 Saturday, February 1, 2014 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home, Monmouth. Friends may call Friday, Jan. 31, 2014 at the funeral home where his family will be present from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Burial in Oquawka Cemetery will take place at a later date. Memorials may be given to the Henderson County Hospice.
