George A. Groves

George A. Groves, 53, of Monmouth, passed away at 1:28 a.m., Friday, January 3, 2014, at OSF Holy Family Medical Center in Monmouth.

He was born July 27, 1960 in Monmouth, IL the son of Georgia Ann (Logsdon) Groves and Kenneth Lee Groves. He was raised and educated in Monmouth graduating from Monmouth High School in 1978.

George previously worked as an over the road truck driver. He currently worked as a welder at Midstate Manufacturing in Galesburg for the last 4 years.

He enjoyed fishing, gardening, news and baseball.

Survivors include his son, Caleb Robert Paulsgrove of Monmouth; parents, Georgia Groves of Monmouth and Kenneth L. Groves of Rocky Hill, KY; brothers, Jerry (Kathy) Groves and Leslie Groves both of Monmouth; sister, Lisa (Brian) Kilgore of Allenhurst, GA; girlfriend, Toni Kay Robbins of Monmouth; nieces, Desia Rhea (Chris) Pierce of Allenhurst, Ga and Lexi Groves of Monmouth; nephew, Hezakiah Groves of Hooker, OK; aunt, Lela Agan of Monmouth; cousin, Buck Logsdon of Goodwill, OK.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, numerous aunts and uncles.

Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth. Cremation will take place following the services. Friends may call Monday, January 6, 2014 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth where his family will be present from 6:00-8:00 P.M.
