Gary L McIntosh

Gary L. McIntosh, 62, of Monmouth, IL, died at 10:18 p.m. Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at his home. He was born on April 11, 1953 in Monmouth, the son of Gene L. and Mary K. (Scott) McIntosh. Gary was raised and educated in Keithsburg, IL; he attended Westmer High School and later graduated from Warren High School in 1971. He served in the United States Army from 1974-1976 as an M.P. at Ft. Leavenworth, KS Gary married Barbara Ann Sutton on June 7, 1974 in Monmouth. He later married Debie Smith Helms on July 28, 2012 in Monmouth, she survives. Gary worked at Kent Feed in Monmouth for a time. He later was a Foreman at Munson Trucking in Monmouth. Gary's true passion was farming; he spent the last 19 years working livestock and crops for Hanson Farms in Warren County. In his leisure time, Gary enjoyed caring for his lawn and flower gardens and singing Karaoke. He was a member of the Monmouth American Legion Post 136. Gary is survived by his wife Debie of Monmouth, son, David McIntosh of Monmouth; three daughters; Traci (Nick) Vasquez of Monmouth, Sarah McIntosh of Florida, Jenna (Keith) Ratliff of Texas, seven grandchildren, his mother, Mary McIntosh of Monmouth; one step son, Kenny Helms of Monmouth; 4 sisters, Diana Mackey of Biggsville, Twilia (Donny) Sexton of Oklahoma, Shirley (Terry) Fluke of Avon, Kathleen (Bobby) Stotler of Monmouth; 3 brothers, Roy McIntosh of Ft. Madison, IA, Rex McIntosh and Brian McIntosh both of Monmouth; his mother in law, Virginia "Ginny" Smith of Monmouth; 2 sisters in laws, Dee Dee Ortery of Monmouth and Paula Schaumleffel of Oklahoma; numerous nieces, nephews and his dear pet companion, "Gracie Mae". He was preceded in death by his father, 2 grandchildren, Keegan Ross Howard and Ian Richard Vasquez; father in law, W.T. Smith. Memorial services will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday, December 6, 2015 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory in Monmouth. Friends may call Sunday afternoon where his family will be present from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Cremation has been accorded. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Gary McIntosh Memorial Fund.
