Gary R. Higbee, 67, of Roseville, IL passed away at 12:14 am, Friday, March 29, 2019 at the Richard L. Owens Hospice Home, Peoria, IL.
Gary was born September 1, 1951 in Galesburg, IL, the son of Martin R. “Dick” and Marge (Zimmerman) Higbee. He was raised and educated in Warren County, graduating from Warren High School in 1969.
Gary married Nancy Reynolds in Warren County On March 9, 2018 and she survives.
Gary served in the Warren County Sheriff’s Office for 21 years serving as Sheriff from 1990-1994 before retiring in 1994. He loved doing various Cowboying jobs.
He was a member of the Cameron Christian Church and enjoyed horses, hunting and raising his faithful heelers.
Survivors include his wife, his daughter, Jennifer (Ashley) Higbee and his son, Brandon Higbee both of Nashville, TN; his brother, Roger Higbee of Davenport, IA; his sisters, Jean Higbee of Roscoe, IL and Jan Lawrence of Bloomington, IL; along with many fantastic nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather, sister and nephew.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL. Interment will be in Center Grove Cemetery, Kirkwood. Friends may call Tuesday morning from 9:00-11:00 am at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Western Illinois Animal Rescue, Monmouth. “Don’t be afraid to break out your boots and jeans and Cowboy up for this one”.
