Gary K. Christian, 64, of Cameron, Ill., passed away at 6:39 p.m., Thursday, June 12, 2014 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
He was born on May 25, 1950 in Lexington, Ky. Gary is the son of Rev. Jack Kenneth and Juanita (Rowe) Christian. Gary graduated from LeRoy High School in LeRoy, Ill. in 1968.
Gary married Judy Cook in June of 1971. He later married Annie T. Youngquist on March 30, 1985, she survives.
Gary first worked at the Glastex Boat Factory in Monmouth. He later worked for Bill Hallam Electric and Flatt's Electric. Gary has worked the last 25 years for Galesburg Cottage Hospital as an Electrician.
Gary is a member of the Cameron Christian Church, where he has served as an Elder and Sunday School Teacher. Gary's passion was music in which he played in several area bands; TKO, Inside Out, JMACC and Miss Fortune. He was an avid New York Yankees and Dallas Cowboys fan. He loved to spend time with his family, friends and watching his kids play sports and music.
Gary is survived by his wife Annie Christian of Cameron, two sons; Jamie (Katrina) Christian of Franklin, Tenn., Eric Christian (Christina Thompson) of Monmouth, Ill., two daughters; Justine Christian of Chicago, Ill., and Breanna Christian (Corey Todd) of Cameron; four Grandchildren; Jadyn Christian, Kennedi Christian and Presley Christian all of Franklin, TN., and Ean Christian of Galesburg; one brother Mark (Cathy) Christian of Chesapeake, Va.; one sister Marsha (Dan) Edgington of Rock Island, Ill., mother-in-law Willadene Youngquist of Cameron, sister-in-law Ronadene (Bill) Bogener of Rio, Ill., brother-in-law Steven (Chris) Youngquist of Cameron, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Linda Shilt, and father-in-law Ronald Youngquist.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at the Cameron Christian Church. Interment will be in Silent Home Cemetery in Cameron. Friends may call Monday, June 16, 2014 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth where his family will be present to receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Memorials can be made to the Cameron Christian Church, United Sports Boosters, and the Gift of Hope Organ and Tissue Network.
