Donald L. Hanna, 83, of Alexis, IL died at 6:40 a.m. Sunday, June 7, 2015 at Select Specialty Hospital in Davenport, IA. Donald was born December 31, 1931 in Alexis, IL; the son of George L. and Virginia (Miller) Hanna. He was raised and educated in Alexis and graduated from Alexis High School in 1950. He married Marjorie Noonan on June 14, 1952 in Alexis, she survives. Don owned and operated Hanna Trucking in Alexis for 65 years. He hauled livestock, corn, stone, and sand in the Alexis area. Don was a workaholic; he never had time for hobbies. For many years he spent his winters down in Florida. He loved history, the History Channel, and places of historical interest. Don was a member of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Alexis. He is survived by his wife Marjorie Hanna of Alexis, two daughters; Cyndi Hanna and Julie Nelson both of Galesburg, IL, six grandchildren; Dr. Christopher Snell, Justin Snell, Dusty Hall, Sarah Hall, Trevor Nelson, and Taylor Nelson. Also surviving are three great grandchildren; Zoe Snell, Sydney Snell, and Connor Pearson, Two sisters; Betty Allgeyer and Charlene Ellis. Don was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Pamela Hanna, and two sisters; Barbara Huber and Roberta Hanna. Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Alexis, IL with Msgr. Thomas Mack celebrating. Interment will be in Alexis Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, with a Rosary being recited at 4:30 p.m. A Memorial fund has been established and will be designated later.
